Google has upgraded Chrome's Enhanced Protection mode with a server-side Gemini AI model to detect fake antivirus alerts, browser update scams, and ClickFix attacks. Unlike the previous on-device model, the upgrade extends protection to all Enhanced Protection users. Gemini analyzes page content for fraud indicators, feeding results into Safe Browsing alongside domain reputation signals. Chrome also gains two warning tiers distinguishing suspicious from confirmed dangerous sites. Google says page content is processed temporarily and never logged or used for training.
