Hackers Use Claude AI to Plan Ransomware Attacks, Then Accidentally Expose Their Secrets

Ransomware operators used commercial AI tools including Claude Opus 4.6 to plan intrusions, manage victim data, and draft extortion material, but a misconfigured server exposed their entire operation. Researchers at SOCRadar found 8,257 AI chat messages, stolen credentials, malware builds, and campaign notes across seven servers. The leaked records linked activity to INC Ransomware and The Gentlemen Ransomware affiliates, naming 62 target organizations and revealing over $23,900 spent on AI services.
